This is your permission to start that youtube channel you’ve been thinking about.
Trying new things is hard, it’s scary, and if it could cause change to who you are, than it’s really scary. If it’s a positive change our brains still just don’t like change.
It’s okay to be scared
Doing things is scary. trying new things is scary. Being vaulnerable is scary because you could get hurt. It’s okay to have a rush of adrinenline pumping through your body as you upload your first video that 5 people will see, 4 of whom you didn’t want to see the video, EVER.
It’s okay to fail
It’s okay that no one saw your video. You know why? Because you were nervous about the way you did that last take. And how you could never quite get the audio to sound the way you wanted it to.
It’s okay to be bad at what you enjoy
It is literally impossible to be good at something without being bad at it first. If you know your first 50 videos are going to be the worst, isn’t a good idea to get through them as quickly as possible by making as many videos as you can?
It’s okay that no one cares
Guess what! You can try again. You can upload your second video, then your third! Before you know it you will have built up a library of content. Then, when someone does discover you they’ll think “How did this person get so good at making videos?” But you’ll know. You’ll know it was the hours of work put in before anyone noticed you that led to the beautiful tutorial on designing with react components.
It’s okay to be anxious
Some people A lot of people
Most people won’t like what content you put out. But guess what? Making content that caters to “everyone” is boring, and will likely end in pleasing no one. Go deep on your niche. Go deep on your personality. Attract the people that will make you feel good.
It’s okay to not know what your doing
Reading and studying will only get you so far. It’s time to get your knees and hands dirty. Even if you have to drag yourself kicking and screaming because you know no-one will like your videos, and your nervous you won’t be able to write enough content to maintain a weekly upload schedule.
Put yourself out there. Be vulnerable. Practice what you want to be good at. Even if you’re afraid that you will change. You will change. You want change. Change is good. Staying the same is lame. Get out there. Get some
bruises , learn, get some more bruises, learn some more.
